What is a doula?
A doula is a trained labor companion who supports a birthing person before, during and after childbirth helping them make the best decisions during an important life event. A doula helps a couple gain the education needed to feel empowered with the choices they make bringing their little one into the world. A doula provides comfort measures to the birthing person and encouragement to the couple during labor and after birth helping relieve stress and fear giving a family the best possible start.
Why work together?
Childbirth is a life experience that will be remembered by a birthing person for all their life. Although no birth outcome can be predicted, it is proven with support that any birth can feel like a positive experience.
As a doula and yoga teacher, I guide birthing people to find balance in their body during pregnancy and to use movement and breath during labor to cope and find inner strength. It is my aim to help you work with your body through labor rather than resist and have strength rather than fear in the normal process of birth. I strive to help birthing people be prepared both physically and mentally for childbirth and becoming a parent. Birth support is unique for each person and includes evidence based education, emotional support, comfort measures during labor and helping you advocate for what’s best for you. I support all birth preferences and encourage partners to feel confident in how to support the process.
